Water Sanitation and Hygiene Programme

The programme focuses on influencing Water and Sanitation Policies and Acts, especially the Water and Sanitation Act, No 12/2009. The contention ion of this Act is to promote registration and. strengthening of Community Owned Water Supply Organizations (COWSOs) to increase community ownership and accountability to water supply facilities in LGAs.

In-addition, the programme seeks to promote Total Community Led Sanitation and Hygiene practices at community level. This is achieved through raising community awarenes on practicing proper sanitation and hygiene, ensuring timely access to improved toilets/latrines, hand washing with soap, drinking safe water, especially for U5C to prevent diarrheal among U5C.

Furthermore, it seeks to capitalize on its Domestic Water Point Functionality Intervention Framework/Approach to ensure domestic water point functionality is maintained in all villages all year around.
